The application is done, and overnighted, and man, I’m having a great day. Behold:
I got an interview with a Temp agency out of the way, so that I’ll have some source of income until I find out if I get into the Institute or not.
I got together with my old costumer and she gave me this beautiful black lace dress that I wore for Arsenic and Old Lace, which means I know have a kick-ass Halloween costume for this October.
I came home to find a lovely copy of The Call of the Weird by Louis Theroux (as provided by the lovely De Capo Press) leaning against my door.
And…and…And! I now get to spend the rest of the week in
Realize, of course, this bookstore-ing will be sandwiched between barhopping and girlie-wow-I-haven’t-seen-you-forever-ness.
All I have to do is some laundry, some packing, some bill paying and make one important trip to the post office to finally send that box of books off to
Oh, and hopefully post some fun book related pictures that I took today.

Ah! Coming to my home town! It will be raining, of course, but then I'm sure you're used to that. :o)
The University of Washington Bookstore, on The Ave just outside the university, is one of the largest independent bookstores in the country. The sci-fi/fantasy section is particularly impressive (if the buyer, Duane, is in, do try to chat with him. He's a wonderful fellow and single-handedly does much to support local Northwest authors). Elliot Bay Books is also a Seattle institution.
If you do end up at Elliot Bay, within a 2 block radius of that store is at least 2 or 3 others, which is why I like it. Actually, Elliot Bay is a lot like Powell's. Except in Seattle.
You have to go to the Rock & Roll museum-it is very cool.
I also love Dahlia Lounge.Make sure you take a ferry ride.

i live in Seattle!!! You should also check out Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park - it's just north of Seattle and a very cool indie book store. The Mystery Bookstore in Seattle is really cool, too. :)

hi! i just found your blog. love. bookmarking. :-) wish you were here in paris b/c no one can find anything here in the bookstores. i even know the titles and the booksellers are all, "what? i've never heard of that before, go rummage by yourself in the corner while we flirt amongst ourselves and plan cliquey dinner dates...." AH! drives me crazy.
